As most bridal couples know, there are many options when choosing a wedding in the beautiful Sedona area. It is the perfect location for a destination wedding and there are a variety of choices that you must make.

Here at Poco Diablo Resort, we like to think of ourselves as providing more than just a wedding venue.  We offer a variety of services and friendly staff to make your event enjoyable and memorable.  We are very flexible with our wedding events regarding ceremony times and social meals that go along with them.  Our spacious golf course can host a wedding ceremony any time during the day for up to 400 wedding guests.  Venues that can host weddings of this size are few and far between in Sedona. For privacy and a successful event, we close our golf course and make the area your private haven.  Many of our couples enjoy holding their wedding ceremony at the Garden Gazebo but if you prefer a different location on the golf course, the area of your choice can be selected for your wedding ceremony. We will set up your white garden chairs in the location of your choice.

We also have a number of reception locations available depending on the size of your wedding or your desire to be indoor or outdoors.  We always listen to the bridal couple on their wishes and present options for them that fit within their budget. We do not have mandatory vendors; bridal couples are free to use the vendors of their choice.  We work with all local wedding professionals so, more than likely, your vendors will be well known to us.

Saturday, September 24, 2010.  We were happy to host the wedding of Shari Eisenberg and Keith Bjorklund at Poco Diablo Resort.  Shari and Keith have been together for 9 years and decided the time had come to to tie the knot.  We really enjoyed helping with their wedding plans throughout the past few months.  Shari knew exactly what she wanted for her intimate wedding.  They shared their special day with a small group of their family and friends on a perfect Sedona afternoon.

Janice Midkiff with Ceremony of Love, helped Shari and Keith with their wedding arrangements in addition to officiating the wedding ceremony. The red rocks of Sedona really stood out above their golf course wedding ceremony. Shari glimmered as she walked down the aisle with her father Jack.  Janise Witt, their professional photographer, took lovely photos of the bridal couple in the perfect setting.

Serenading the guests prior to the wedding ceremony, Marie Rhines performed magic on her classical violin.  The Gazebo, surrounded by colorful roses, made the perfect setting for Marie’s wonderful music.

Following the ceremony, guests proceeded to the Rose Terrace for cocktails and appetizers. As the sun set in the western hills, a cool breeze arrived making the evening quite comfortable.  The wedding guests spent time congratulating Shari and Keith and they enjoyed visiting with their special guests.

Following the cocktail hour, guests accompanied Shari and Keith to the Canopy Patio to enjoy a delicious plated meal created by Chef Felipe.  The evening was cool and the stars were shinning brightly throughout the night.  Following dinner, everyone enjoyed Sheri’s favorite wedding cake adorned with personalized decorations. We very much enjoyed hosting Shari and Keith’s wedding and we hope they will return to Poco Diablo to celebrate their wedding anniversary next year.

Cynthia and William had an intimate wedding ceremony at the Golf Course Gazebo which was adorned with beautiful flowers arranged by Bliss Extraordinary Floral.  The colorful roses that surrounded the Gazebo framed the ceremony location.  Local musical duet, Dos Geckos, played violin and guitar for their meaningful ceremony and Rev. Joel Boyd performed the nuptials.

Guests received personalized fans from a welcoming table topped by a gazebo. This was the perfect decoration for their gazebo wedding.  Mel Russell was their professional photographer and he really captured the love and beauty of our bridal couple.

Everyone enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by Chef Felipe while Bill Barnes and Larry Perkins with Dos Geckos played a variety of songs throughout the evening. Following their champagne toast, guests enjoyed dessert and cake. Their elegant wedding cake was created by Donna Joy, Sedona Sweet Arts.  It was a delicious white wedding cake with Raspberry filling and it was decorated with hand made sugar flowers.

The excitement continued throughout the evening and just towards the end of the reception, William surprised Cynthia with the announcement that they would be leaving for a romantic honeymoon in Hawaii.  He placed a colorful floral lei around her neck and everyone was so excited and surprised. It was the perfect ending to the perfect wedding celebration.

One of the most popular weddings dates of this decade will be Sunday, October 10, 2010.  The buzz around town is that many of the professional wedding vendors have been inundated with calls and clients for this chic wedding date. Poco Diablo is happy to be hosting two special weddings on this day.

Our gracious couple Taye Padilla and Ron Miget is having their destination wedding in Sedona.  Taye and Ron live in Pontiac, Illinois – a town about 100 miles south of Chicago.  The funny connection they have with Arizona is that Pontiac lies on Route 66, which also goes through Flagstaff, Arizona.  This is a great coincidence and since they have a number of guests coming out for the wedding, they have decided to drive together to Sedona from Illinois.

Ron and Taye - our 10am bridal couple.

It has been a pleasure working with Taye and Ron and we can’t wait until October 10th is here.  They have chosen wonderful local vendors that include a magnificent wedding cake from Donna Joy, Sedona Sweet Arts.  The spectacular flowers will be arranged and provided by Amy Mills with Bliss Extraordinary Floral.   One of our favorite photographers, Pamela Duffy, will be their professional photographer and Brian David will be playing his melodic guitar for both the wedding ceremony and reception.  A very dear friend of theirs will be performing the intimate wedding ceremony at 10:00am.

Jacob Coughlin and Sarah Di Stefano

Our second wedding of the day is the wedding of our local couple Sarah Di Stefano and Jacob Coughlin.  We are so happy Sarah and Jacob has chosen Poco Diablo Resort to host their wedding and we have had such a nice time getting to know them.  Sarah works for Verde Valley Homes and Land and has been quite busy at work throughout the planning of her wedding.  Jacob is the Director of Finance at Cliff Castle Casino and is well known in our community.  Their wedding coordinator is Liz Moler, one of Sedona’s most popular wedding professionals. We have enjoyed working with Sarah and Jacob with the planning of their exciting wedding on the 10th.

We feel confident that each couple will always remember their wedding anniversary getting married on this special date.  We will not see another date like this until the next century!
