Wedding Ceremony at the Gazebo

Wedding Ceremony at the Gazebo

Saturday, April 14, 2011.  Tish Sinni and Bruce Diggle held their intimate Sedona wedding at Poco Diablo Resort in front of their immediate family members. Tish and Bruce live in New York State, but simply love Sedona, and who can blame them. Sedona is one of the most popular destinations for a perfect wedding. Few places can match its beauty and majesty.

Rev. Andrew Murphy with Heart of Sedona Weddings performed the intimate ceremony in front of the quaint gazebo on the golf course. Tish and Bruce are the heads of a modern day “Brady Bunch” family. Tish has three sons and Bruce has three daughters – all of them participating in the special event. Tish was elegant with gorgeous flowers provided by the Jazz Bouquet. Ceremony music was performed by one of our favorites – Brian David. His amazing guitar music is a must have for every Sedona wedding.

Following the ceremony, Tish and Bruce joined their guests for a delicious brunch in the private Sedona Room. The menu included sparkling Mimosas accompanied by Poco House Champagne. Following the brunch, guests enjoyed the springlike weather we were experiencing visiting on the Canopy Patio. The views are enjoyable and there were a variety of flowering trees on the golf course. Everyone enjoyed their time in Sedona and each of them can’t wait to return.

Saturday, April 9, 2011.  Poco Diablo Resort was thrilled to host the wedding of Virginia Lynn Peterson and Andrew Long last weekend.  The wedding was planned by Susan Perry with Weddings in Sedona and we enjoyed hosting the event.  As soon as you met the lovely couple, you could not help but like them so very much.  Lynn is such a sweet person; she is kind and thoughtful and the love they share was evident to one and all.  Sedona experienced a springtime snow shower on their wedding day, but the wedding was amazing and lovely including the winter like weather.

Andrew and Lynn actually met for the first time in the 3rd grade – many years ago. They met again years later while they were in college and both of them turned out to be living on the east coast.  As time went on, their relationship grew and they fell in love – a perfect match.  Their dear friends Eric DeSilva and Sherrie Soltis served as their officiants performing their wedding ceremony. Although the weather did not permit them to have a golf course wedding ceremony, it went perfectly on the Canopy Patio.  Guests enjoyed the intimate ceremony followed by a lot of fun and enjoyment.  There were masks for everyone to wear and toys for the children. The wedding was very festive which was evident by their wedding photographs.

There were four bridesmaids, a maid of honor, and the cutest little flower girl.  We also saw two very professional ring bearers accompanied by five groomsmen. Andrew looked on as Lynn walked down the aisle with Ted Maia.

Bobby Russell with Sedona Sounds played music during the ceremony. Flower arrangements were created by Bliss Extraordinary Floral. The colors were beautiful and so was the bride! Warm patio heaters helped make the guests comfortable and everyone enjoyed the views offered by the surrounding areas.

As you can see, everyone was having a great time – enjoying the festivities and having fun. Andrew and Lynn were surrounded by 76 of their closest friends and family members – they were glowing.

There were so many personal touches evident in the wedding of Lynn and Andrew. This is a lovely tree that will be cherished by our bridal couple.  Each guest made a fingerprint on the tree with their name and this tree was full by the end of the night.  It will be a wonderful memento for Lynn and Andrew.

Saturday, April 9, 2011.  Sedona was blanketed by a winter snowstorm early this morning and the snow continued throughout the day. This is not the first time we have experienced snow in Sedona in April as I can remember twice when it actually snowed on Easter Sunday which also happened to be in April years past.  Although many visitors come to Arizona wearing shorts and t-shirts, they may be upset when they find out about our winter-like weather; but actually they are quite lucky to experience the beauty of Sedona when it snows. I hope you will enjoy some of the photos taken at Poco Diablo Resort and of our lovely town covered in snow.

Nancy and Ron Starkey

Nancy and Ron Starkey

Amazing! That is just one of the 100 incredible adjectives that come to mind to describe our wedding at Poco Diablo Resort. As you know, we had distinct advantage having been a guest as a friend’s wedding at your resort 2 years ago. We were so impressed with Joy and Robert’s wedding that we knew, if we ever tied the knot, Poco would be the place. Those feelings were only the tip of the iceberg to how we felt being on the other side of the ceremony, working directly with you to plan our own wedding.

I cannot begin to express how appreciative I am for all your hard work and patience in responding to my many questions. A destination wedding adds a lot of unique challenges to planning a wedding. Though the distance was only a hundred miles, it meant the majority of our communication was done via email; lots and lots of emails! One thing I could always count on was a quick reply! You were so responsive with answers to my questions, or to offer suggestions, or just provide reassurance. I was never left hanging, and truly felt as if we were partners in creating my dream wedding. After our tour, Ron and I left 100% confident that we made the right choice.

Those feelings only grew stronger as the big day approached. Checking in the day before the wedding, the front desk welcomed us as VIP’s! Eric Johnson was also right there to greet us and assist in unloading the decorations. It was so nice that he was able to have the reception in the ballroom set up early, allowing us to decorate the night before! One less thing to worry about on the big day! It was incredible seeing my vision from all the months of planning come to life when decorating.  Throughout the weekend and especially as the clock ticked closer to the start of the ceremony, you were always right there to ensure everything was as expected and if there was anything more you could do for me. What a comfort it was having you by my side, my “wingman” so to speak, ensuring I was happy and that the event would run smoothly. And run smoothly it did! Everything was absolutely perfect! We would not have changed one thing. Clearly, you know all the ins and outs to creating a beautiful, well planned wedding. Because you were so attentive in taking care of the details, it allowed us, the bride and groom to truly relax and enjoy the moment. Could it get any better? Yes, it did, when we had the added surprise to find your gift of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries awaiting us that evening. You are incredible!

The VIP treatment we received was also extended to all our guests that day. I continually heard from our family and friends how impressed they were with everything. They commented on what fun they had and how beautiful the decorations and favors were. But beyond that, we heard a ton of praise for the resort; from the stunning gazebo setting, the incredible appetizers and delicious dinner, the beautiful ballroom, how friendly and attentive the staff were, how nice the rooms were, and just overall how impressed they were with Poco Diablo Resort. Funny, they are now sitting exactly where Ron and I were only two years earlier, as very impressed guests attending a wedding at Poco Diablo Resort! You definitely left a lasting impression on us all.  Our wedding was above and beyond all expectations thanks to your team!

We cannot say thanks enough! We would love to be part of any referral programs you have. We will happily tell others planning a wedding to look no further – advising that they must call Jill at Poco Diablo Resort for the perfect wedding!

Thanks a million for everything! Good bless you.  Nancy and Ron Starkey
