We all know how quickly things change as the time passes by.  Now that we are in the twenty first century, people are looking at things quite differently. We enjoy wedding trends and modern ways of thinking. In fact, we enjoy when bridal couples create personalized wedding favors for their guests.  Sometimes donation cards are placed on tables for a charity gift. I have seen individual tree favors that wedding guests can take home and plant, helping our environment. Marcy and Jake created home made preserves for their wedding guests and this gift was well received.

In thinking of new ideas and themes, we came across a great website featuring all things wedding-related, including how and where to find vegan wedding dresses, suits and shoes.  In an article from ActionLine magazine produced by Friends of Animals, it was mentioned that the website features wedding stories, information about photographers and every possible detail related to planning your own vegan nuptials. Poco Diablo Resort welcomes bridal couples looking for contemporary aspects to their wedding and enjoy hosting unique events. Check out Rose Pedals Vegan Weddings online at www.rosepedalsveganweddings.com.  I am sure you will find it interesting.

And if you need a local vegan wedding cake, we highly recommend Sedona Sweet Arts. Pastry chef Donna Joy creates delicious and beautiful wedding cakes and you can’t even tell that they are vegan. You can also order gluten free wedding cakes.  Rachel and Paul ordered a four tier gluten free wedding cake from Sedona Sweet Arts in June and their wedding guests couldn’t even tell it was gluten free. Now that is talent!

Saturday, July 16, 2011.  With a date just in the middle of the year and during a full moon, Sheryl and Ted decided to have their wedding in the lovely area of Sedona. The first time we spoke with Sheryl and Ted was last June and they had an entire year to plan the perfect wedding.

Rev. Ken Froessel Performed the Wedding Ceremony for Ted and Sheryl

The wedding ceremony, performed by Rev. Ken Froessel, took place at L’Auberge de Sedona located in Uptown. There was a variety of locations that would be perfect for their wedding portraits. Following the ceremony, guests proceeded to Poco Diablo Resort for the wedding reception. Their dinner was an intimate affair for 40 guests and was held on the Canopy Patio.

Dinner was served at 8:00pm while their DJ JJ Michaels with Desert Music played a variety of tunes for the guests. Sheryl was lovely in her wedding gown, and Ted looked so happy. They really enjoyed the event. Floral centerpieces were provided by Mountain High Flowers and the bride’s color of Royal Blue was prevelent throughout the reception.

The plated dinner started with a delicious salad, followed by a duet plate of Medallions of Beef with Madeira Reduction paired with Grilled Breast of Chicken with Sweet Red Pepper Sauce. Chef’s Vegetable Medly and Ancho Chile Mashed Potatoes accompanied the entree.

Their beautiful wedding cake was made by sugar artist, Donna Joy, with Sedona Sweet Arts. Two flavors were offered on this three tiered wedding cake:  white cake with raspberry filling and the bottom tier had strawberry filling. What a perfect cake to enjoy at a wedding in July.

Jamie, Brad and little Taylor on one of their visits to Poco Diablo Resort

Jamie, Brad and little Taylor on one of their visits to Poco Diablo Resort

Back in September of 2010 we met Jamie and Brad while they were exploring Sedona as the host of their destination wedding. They discovered Poco Diablo Resort on our website and scheduled an appointment for a property tour. We immediately became good friends and saw them a number of times prior to their June 25th wedding.

Jamie and Brad celebrated their wedding with a large number of family and friends. They enjoyed breakfast together each morning while they were in Sedona and I saw them frequently by the pool having fun and socializing. They were calm and cool and well prepared for their wedding.

Jamie was stunning in her wedding gown as she walked down the aisle to the golf course gazebo where Brad stood waiting for his bride. The ceremony was performed by one of our favorite ministers, Rev. Ken Froessel, who is always kind and friendly. Their ceremony was intimate and charming. Their daughter Taylor was a lovely flower girl and really enjoyed the event. Floral arrangements were created by Bliss Extraordinary Floral and the colors looked great. Brian Minson and his team covered the wedding photographically. Sara Hartzler Casciani performed her lovely harp prior to the wedding ceremony and added a touch of elegance to the affair.

Following the ceremony, guests proceeded to the Canopy Patio for the cocktail hour while Jamie and Brad took formal wedding portraits. The golf course sparkled in the afternoon sun, which made a perfect setting for their wedding photos.  Dinner was served at 7:00pm starting with our signature Poco Premier Salad followed by their plated dinner entree Chicken Diablo: Chicken Breast Stuffed with Boursin Cheese, Baby Spinach and Sundried Tomatoes served with Red Pepper Cream Sauce.

One of the highlights of the dinner was the elegant wedding cake created by Donna Joy, Sedona Sweet Arts. The traditional wedding cake was adorned with hand made sugar flowers and everyone loved the cake. The top tier was saved by Jamie and Brad and will be enjoyed in their home as they celebrate their marriage.

Sunday, June 26, 2011.  Brooke and Kevin, clients of Heart of Sedona Weddings, held their wedding and reception at Sedona’s Poco Diablo Resort at the end of June, and it was our pleasure to host the event. Brooke was excited about the Bell Rock Wedding Package offered at Poco Diablo and it worked out perfect for her wedding plans. Holding their intimate wedding ceremony at the Golf Course Gazebo, beneath a stately weeping willow tree, Andrew Murphy performed the magical wedding ceremony for Kevin and Brooke. The wedding bouquet was created by Bliss Extraordinary Floral, which complimented Brooke’s wedding gown.

Ceremony music was arranged by Jeanie Carroll who made sure all their favorite songs were played throughout the ceremony. Following the ceremony, guests proceeded to the Poco Diablo Ballroom where appetizers and beverages were prepared by our staff. Kevin and Brooke looked very elegant while posing for wedding portraits.

The Sunflower Theme was prevalent throughout the wedding. Each bridesmaid had lovely sunflowers and accompanying flowers for their bouquets along with colorful centerpieces for the wedding reception. An elegant floral arrangement decorated the head table. Following the dinner, guests enjoyed delicious Wedding Bundt Cakes created by Nothing Bundt Cakes which were offered in a variety of flavors. Dancing and fun continued throughout the night and a good time was enjoyed by one and all. Congratulations to Brooke and Kevin on their amazing wedding and we wish you many happy years together. Thank you allowing us to be part of your celebration.
