Poco Diablo Resort – September 20, 2011. We received the nicest letter from our May 29th bridal couple Kassie and Steven and we wanted to share it with you. Janise Witt, their professional photogrpaher, was kind enough to share some of their wedding photos with us.

Poco Diablo Resort – Our Dream Wedding

The Right Choice!

Our journey for the perfect wedding spot started in October of 2010.  My future wife and I had been coming to Sedona Arizona for 3 years together.  Myself, I had been familiar with the breathtaking views of this magical place called Sedona for over 20 years.  My parents have owned timeshares here since I was in college.  I always loved coming home over the summer or on my breaks to find out that we were going to spend a week or weekend in “Red Rock Country”.  No matter if it was two days or seven days it was always refreshing and exciting to know that I was going to Sedona to get out of my element and into a different state of mind.

That new state of mind this time would be to marry this very special woman, the woman of my dreams, Kassie.  So when I planned our birthday trip in October of 2010, (our birthdays are one day apart) I decided to take her to Poco Diablo Resort.  We had been to Sedona together before, but not to Poco Diablo Resort.  When we arrived that night after work it was already dark and raining pretty hard.  It was nice to stoke a fire and have delicious room service.  I purposely did not take her around the grounds until the next morning so that she could see the beauty of this lovely resort in the sunlight.  We have talked about the perfect place to get married for a couple of years now, everything from a beach wedding at sunset in Hawaii to other resorts in California and Sedona.

It only took a walk of the grounds at Poco Diablo Resort and a meeting with their wedding coordinator Jill Kyriakopulos to seal the deal.   (We could not wait to get married under the weeping willow right in front of the gazebo)  Jill was simply amazing!  We knew after meeting her that we did not need to look any further for our special day.  She always treated us more like a friend, or family, than a resort employee.  From day one she extended us first class treatment and went above and beyond accommodating our wishes.  With all of the intricate details of planning a destination wedding there are numerous things to be done.  We found ourselves going up to Sedona quite often.  Each and every time that we came to “Red Rock Country” Jill was always there to accommodate and help us to make sure we did not feel stressed.  With her input and experience she made it possible for us and our guests to experience a wedding that people are still talking about today.

We would recommend Poco Diablo Resort to any couple that is thinking of getting married in Sedona.  Not only is the scenery gorgeous but Poco Diablo Resort is affordable, has exceptional food, and not your typical tourist attraction.  You will feel at home.

Poco Diablo Resort looked amazing on the day of our wedding!  The scenery was incredible.   The grounds were green and immaculate.  The sky was clear and the golf course came alive with the blustery winds. The weeping willow swayed to the back drop of the red rock.  We had amazing vendors, for our day had long awaited us and we knew that we had made the perfect choice for our perfect day.  Poco Diablo Resort!  A place that we will always come back to!

Poco Diablo Resort, Saturday, September 17, 2011.  Today we enjoyed a wonderful day here in Sedona. The skies were clear and there was a cool breeze – just a perfect day. We had a few rainy days this week and we were really hoping for a nice day for Tina and Jim’s wedding.

Our Bridal Couple Tina and Jim

Tucson natives Tina and Jim picked Sedona for their destination wedding. Many of their family members and friends traveled to Sedona to be part of the special event. We have become good friends with our bridal couple over the past few months and were so happy that the weather was great. Tina was involved in every aspect of planning their wedding and she knew exactly what she wanted. Her arrangements were perfect and she received a lot of support from her family and friends.

The wedding ceremony took place at 4:00pm on the golf course, officiated by Rev. Jim Logan.  The ceremony included a Cactus Planting Ceremony, which represents the love and attention they will show to their plant, and to their marriage, and will cherish it as a reminder of their union. Tina’s bridesmaids wore lovely chocolate brown gowns and the floral arrangements contained a variety of colors that complimented the wedding theme. Pure Entertainment DJ offered professional services for music and video services.  Their professional photographer was Kevin Juberg with Sierra Blanco Photography. I can’t wait to see his photos of their wedding and share them with you on my blog.

Following the intimate wedding ceremony in front of the Golf Course Gazebo, guests proceeded to the Rose Terrace for appetizers and cocktails while Tina and Jim took wedding portraits with the bridal party and immediate family members. Guests enjoyed cocktails accompanied by a lovely fruit and cheese tray, Prickly Pear Barbecue Meatballs, Chicken Skewers with Apricot Ginger Sauce and Sweet and Sour Wontons.

Dinner was held under the lights on the Canopy Patio with a lovely view of the golf course and surrounding summits. Entree choices of Grilled Salmon Filet served with Dill Caper Butter Sauce, or the Duo plate of Medallions of Beef served with Grilled Breast of Chicken with Red Pepper Cream Sauce. Champagne toasts were made to Jim and Tina.

Guests enjoyed wedding cake after dinner and then proceeded to dance up a storm to a great selection of music offered by Keven at Pure Entertainment. It was a lovely evening and the stars began to shine in celebration of Tina and Jim’s wedding. What a perfect Sedona wedding and we were so happy to be part of it! Thank you Tina and Jim for allowing us to host your wedding. We can’t wait to see you back at Poco Diablo Resort. They are not off to the Virgin Islands for a very romantic honeymoon!
