Valerie and Jason

We experienced so much excitement this past Memorial Day weekend here at Poco Diablo Resort while hosting the marvelous wedding of Valerie and Jason. The weekend started off with a fun Mexican themed rehearsal dinner on the patio. In addition to the tasty food prepared by our culinary staff, Valerie and Jason did a terrific job on the decorations and favors that were displayed throughout the event. This was a great kick off to an entertaining weekend of celebration and happiness shared by their family members and friends.

Mexican Themed Decor

The patio was immersed in bright colors and festive patterns accompanied by a variety of libations and refreshments. Games were played and accessories offered with an emphasis on their themed event. The golf course looked lovely as did the Canopy Patio and everyone had a brilliant time.

Dinner on the Canopy Patio

Their wedding took place on the following day – turning out to be a perfect Sedona day. The wedding ceremony was set up facing Elephant Rock, offering an outstanding back drop for the ceremony. Jason and Valerie were so happy as Ken Froessel performed the ceremony. Their superb wedding photographs were taken by Andrew Holman, one of our favorite photographers here in Sedona.

The lovely wedding ceremony of Valerie and Jason

Cocktails were held on the Rose Terrace while wedding portraits were captured on the golf course. Chad Trapeur, owner of All American DJ and Director of Fun, entertained the wedding guests throughout the cocktail hour. Chad had a lot of fun planned throughout the evening including the enjoyable “air guitar” playing during the party. Chad played throughout the night and folks danced up a storm. We loved the exuberance and spirit of the evening.

An elegant plated dinner was served by the Poco Diablo banquet staff. Upgraded rental items including Chiavari chairs and charger plates enhanced the wedding reception. Soft and pastel floral centerpieces completed a remarkable finishing touch to the table decor. Brightened by the overhead lighting, our Canopy Patio looked stylish and outstanding.

First Dance: Valerie and Jason

Valerie and Jason did a great job with their wedding plans and it showed. We loved hosting their wedding and really appreciate all their hard work, making our job so much easier. We found their family and friends kind and thoughtful and we were so glad that they stayed with us over the holiday weekend. We did not want the evening to end!

Valerie and Jason

We hope to see Valerie and Jason back at our hotel each year for their wedding anniversary. They are truly our friends and are always welcome to our resort.

Charlotte and Liam

Charlotte and Liam

About once a year Poco Diablo Resort features an out of town wedding and this year we are happy to post a wonderful wedding in the English countryside. We were thrilled to be invited to Charlotte and Liam’s wedding on September 5, 2015.

The first thing we noticed is that English weddings are a little different than their US counterparts. The wedding ceremony took place at 1:30pm and at the end of the ceremony, their marriage certificate was signed in front of all of their family and friends. The bridal party and their immediate family then posed for photographs for their guests allowing everyone to capture their own pictures of the ceremonial acts.

Wedding portraits took place outdoors following the ceremony and guests enjoyed cocktails and champagne on the golf course. The wedding took place at the Mill Green Golf Course in Welwyn Garden City.  Sitting down for an early dinner, each guest was served a three course dinner including a delicious entree and their choice of wine. The traditional head table was at the front of the reception room where the parents of the bride and groom sat on either side of the couple. We enjoyed the toast made by the best man as well as the father of the bride.

Following dinner, the room was arranged for dancing and the party went on until midnight. In the early evening, appetizers and wedding cake was served along side a colorful candy table. Offering custom photographs of the guests in costume, the photo booth was a very popular location that evening. The DJ brought bright colored lights and other fun items for the guests that included 2 or 3 guitars, microphone and items for those who wanted to sing and play along. It was so much fun and everyone celebrated the marriage of Charlotte and Liam. We were honored to be part of this exciting event.
