Winter has arrived at Poco Diablo Resort

Winter has arrived at Poco Diablo Resort

March 19, 2012.  Sedona has experienced two days of winter like weather and many of our visitors have been very surprised by the cool temperatures and precipitation. Although people on Spring break may have wished for sunny and warm temperatures, they are very lucky to see the red rocks of Sedona coated in snow. There is so much natural beauty in Sedona and not too many people get the opportunity to see the winter wonderland of Sedona covered with snow.

This weather will not last long as we are expecting the rest of the week to be sunny with warmer temperatures. Poco Diablo is happy that the weather will clear up since we are hosting two weddings this weekend. Each couple should experience green grass, sunny skies and the brightness of Sedona’s red rocks without snow!

Jamie, Brad and little Taylor on one of their visits to Poco Diablo Resort

Jamie, Brad and little Taylor on one of their visits to Poco Diablo Resort

Back in September of 2010 we met Jamie and Brad while they were exploring Sedona as the host of their destination wedding. They discovered Poco Diablo Resort on our website and scheduled an appointment for a property tour. We immediately became good friends and saw them a number of times prior to their June 25th wedding.

Jamie and Brad celebrated their wedding with a large number of family and friends. They enjoyed breakfast together each morning while they were in Sedona and I saw them frequently by the pool having fun and socializing. They were calm and cool and well prepared for their wedding.

Jamie was stunning in her wedding gown as she walked down the aisle to the golf course gazebo where Brad stood waiting for his bride. The ceremony was performed by one of our favorite ministers, Rev. Ken Froessel, who is always kind and friendly. Their ceremony was intimate and charming. Their daughter Taylor was a lovely flower girl and really enjoyed the event. Floral arrangements were created by Bliss Extraordinary Floral and the colors looked great. Brian Minson and his team covered the wedding photographically. Sara Hartzler Casciani performed her lovely harp prior to the wedding ceremony and added a touch of elegance to the affair.

Following the ceremony, guests proceeded to the Canopy Patio for the cocktail hour while Jamie and Brad took formal wedding portraits. The golf course sparkled in the afternoon sun, which made a perfect setting for their wedding photos.  Dinner was served at 7:00pm starting with our signature Poco Premier Salad followed by their plated dinner entree Chicken Diablo: Chicken Breast Stuffed with Boursin Cheese, Baby Spinach and Sundried Tomatoes served with Red Pepper Cream Sauce.

One of the highlights of the dinner was the elegant wedding cake created by Donna Joy, Sedona Sweet Arts. The traditional wedding cake was adorned with hand made sugar flowers and everyone loved the cake. The top tier was saved by Jamie and Brad and will be enjoyed in their home as they celebrate their marriage.

We really enjoyed helping Jamie and Brad with their wedding. We wish them much happiness and hope to see them at Poco Diablo Resort for their one year anniversary. We will help them celebrate!

Brooke was excited about the Bell Rock Wedding Package offered at Poco Diablo and it worked out perfect for her wedding plans. Holding their intimate wedding ceremony at the Golf Course Gazebo, beneath a stately weeping willow tree, Andrew Murphy performed the magical wedding ceremony for Kevin and Brooke. The wedding bouquet was created by Bliss Extraordinary Floral, which complimented Brooke’s wedding gown.

Sunday, June 19, 2011.  Rachel and Paul really know how to throw a party! They wanted to make their wedding a very special event for all of their dear family members and wonderful friends.  Choosing Sedona for their destination wedding, Rachel and Paul made all their wedding arrangements from their home in Chicago for their dream Sedona wedding.

Wedding guests arrived into town from a variety of destinations to join in the special event. On Thursday night, Paul’s father Marty and his wife Kappy hosted an informal pizza party at their Sedona home. This was the kick off to an entire weekend of fun and celebration. Rachel received so much help and support from her sister Rebekah, in addition to other members of their family that were so helpful throughout the weekend.

Friday night the family got together for a quick rehearsal for their traditional ceremony taking place on Saturday.  Guests were invited to a special welcome dinner in the Poco Diablo Ballroom where a Southwestern Buffet was prepared by the Chef and his team.  According to Jewish tradition, it is customary to begin the Friday night meal with a wine and challah blessing. Guests were also invited to view the creative timeline created by Rachel and Paul, celebrating their lives throughout the years. Each guest could add their best wishes, their own experiences and events within the lives of Rachel and Paul. The timeline contained a variety of photos of the couple and was 16 feet long!

Saturday morning Rachel and Paul planned a hike to Brins Mesa trail which has lovely views of Sedona’s lovely red rocks. It was great that there were so many activities for the wedding guests during their weekend in Sedona. Preparations were being made for the wedding throughout the day. Rachel looked brilliant when she appeared in her lovely wedding gown for wedding portraits which were taken by Sedona Bride Photography. Janice Midkiff was an outstanding wedding coordinator and helped with the flow of events throughout the evening.

The wedding ceremony was performed by Rabbi Shoshanah Conover. The traditional ceremony included two parts: Erusin (betrothal) and Nissuin (marriage). Paul and Rachel’s siblings walked out with the traditional Chuppah followed by Paul and his parents. Rachel was accompanied by her parents as she approached the Chuppah and Paul waiting patiently.  It was a lovely procession which was led by three adorable flower girls.

As I mentioned earlier, Rachel and Paul really know how to throw a party! But this was not the final event as everyone was welcomed to join them for a breakfast brunch on Sunday morning in the ballroom. Guests were able to wish Rachel and Paul a wonderful trip as they were getting ready to spend their honeymoon in sunny Spain. This was a weekend that will always be remembered by Rachel and Paul, their friends and family members, and Poco Diablo Resort. We were so happy and excited to spend so much time with them and our staff enjoyed helping them with their magical wedding weekend. Thank you Rachel and Paul. Saturday, June 11, 2011. Local Sedona couple Megan Benson and Dave Cook held their wedding ceremony and reception at Poco Diablo Resort on Saturday to celebrate their love and devotion to one another. Megan and Dave have been together for many years. You won’t find a more friendly and kind couple. We have enjoyed working with them on their wedding and have become very good friends over the past few months. Dave and Megan shared their intimate wedding ceremony with about 45 friends and family members on Saturday. The weather was perfect with a comfortable breeze flowing through the majestic weeping willow above the quaint golf course gazebo. Megan look beautiful as she approached the ceremony site with Dave looking on proudly. They were glowing with the love and devotion they share for each other.
